JH Gun Club Shooting Range Closed Due to Covid-19 Response
Due to the government response to the COVID-19 scare, the JH Gun Club shooting range will be closed until April 30, 2020 by majority vote of the board. Following is an update from the JHGC President:
3-31-2020 Shooting Range Closed Update:
… a few of the main points on why we are following the Governor’s timeline in regards to the range closure:
In short, the [DHS] memo is advisory. The section about ranges being open pertains to law enforcement, public safety, and first responders, not recreational, commercial business or club members. Under the federal memo opening the range for discretionary use is not advised, and that use is not within the scope of the Law Enforcement, Public Safety and Other First Responders category in the federal memo.
We do not believe that we have any choice but to follow the state order, as defined by the [Wyoming] Game & Fish, as the federal memo describes the state as the decision-making authority.”
Shooting Range Closed
Disappointing to see since DHS has stated that gun ranges are an essential business. Plenty of room down there for all of us to follow the social distancing guidelines. Nowhere in the Govenor’s closure statement referenced above can I find Gun ranges to be closed. I’m surprised at this in Wyoming but not Teton County.
Will members be credited for the closed months?
